Lyric of the Night: Social Distortion "Story of My Life"

I went downtown to look for a job, I had no training, no experience to speak of.
I looked at the holes in my jeans, And turned and headed back.

Life goes by so fast, You only want to do what you think is right.
Close your eyes and then it's past; Story of my life

Good times come and good times go, I only wish the good times would last a little longer.
I think about the good times we had, And why they had to end.
So I sit at the edge of my bed, I strum my guitar and I sing an outlaw love song.
Thinkin' 'bout what you're doin' now, And when you're comin' back.

Lyric of the Night--"Morning Yearning" - Ben Harper

"Morning Yearning" - Ben Harper

A finger' s touch upon my lips, It' s a morning yearning, Pull the courtains shut, try to keep it dark, But the sun is burning
The world awakens on the run, And will soon be yearning, With hopes of beter days to come, It' s a morning yearning
Another day, another chance to get it right, Must i still be learning, Baby crying kept us up all night, With her morning yearning
Like a summer rose, i' m a victim of the fall, But i' m soon returning, Your love' s the warmest place the sun ever shines, My morning yearning

Ben Harper's song is featured in the soundtrack to the Luke Wilson film Henry Poole Is Here.  However, on the official soundtrack release, John Linton covers the song.  Linton is no Ben Harper.  What a great song.  Harper fingerpicks his guitar and sings with passion.

Try the movie too.  Luke Wilson does a good job playing a depressed and ailing man who finds himself living in a house with a miracle.

Lyric of the Night: "Every Day is Like Sunday" - Morrissey

Hide on the promenade
scratch out a postcard
"how I dearly with I was not here"
in the seaside town
...that they forgot to bomb
Come! Come! Come - nuclear bomb!
Everyday is like Sunday
everyday is silent and grey

From Viva Hate by Morrissey; the first release after he disbanded the Smith's.  This was the second single and the third song on the album.

Road Music - Bob Dylan "I Want You"

While driving into Price, Mary's iPod kicked up this Dylan Classic.

What a strange assemplage of lyrics.  We listened to it a couple of times, writing down the words.

An interview for Playboy.  It was obviously scanned and converted, as it contains funny mistranslations.  My favorite is a section quoting the Time article with a cover headline reading "Is Cod Dead?"

Finally, the interview has some great quotes.  My favorite:  "No, listen: If I wasn't Bob Dylan, I'd probably think that Bob Dylan has a lot of answers myself. "

New York Magazine has this great link: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2007/10/the_ten_most_incomprehensible.html "The Ten Most Incomprehensible Bob Dylan Interviews of All Time."
